TORONTO (Aug. 17, 2020) — Smiletivations, a black-owned eCommerce clothing brand headquartered in Toronto, is starting to create a buzz with its clothing. With T-shirt designs like “Black Lives Will Always Matter” and “I Couldn’t Breathe Then — Still Can’t Breathe Now,” Smiletivations’ mission is to ensure the conversation surrounding anti-black racism continues until there is racial equality.
The company is focused on bringing awareness to the systemic racism and oppression that black people have been dealing with for hundreds of years in America, Canada, and other parts of the world. Inspired to make a change and to help close the racial divide, the people behind Smiletivations are advancing the cause through their clothing brand.
“I wanted to do my part and make a difference,” said Sophia Ricketts, founder of Smiletivations. “Our company is helping change the world one shirt at a time. We are not afraid to take on the hard conversations. We will continue to bring awareness through our brand until black people everywhere are treated fairly and equally.”
Smiletivations has future plans to open a direct-to-garment printing, fulfillment and distribution center in Toronto. This will also help address the lack of employment opportunities given to black males and females because of systemic racism. This will be the first black-owned, female-founded DTG facility of its kind in Canada.
